Michigan Health Plans Support Recommended Vaccine Schedules
Michigan Health Plans Support Recommended Vaccine Schedules
Amid a shifting federal landscape, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued standing guidanceencouraging providers to follow evidence-based immunization schedules from the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Family Physicians. These schedules reflect decades of clinical research and real-world data.
MAHP member health will continue to follow state guidance on vaccinations issued by MDHHS. Nothing has changed regarding which vaccines are covered. Our health plan member’s commitment to preventive care and vaccinations remains constant.
Vaccines are one of the most effective tools in modern medicine. They protect children and adults from serious, sometimes life-threatening illnesses, reduce strain on hospitals and emergency departments, and help families avoid the cost and disruption of preventable disease.
Families with questions about their child’s vaccine schedule should talk with their pediatrician or family physician. If you ever have a question about a specific vaccine or claim, health plan member services teams are available to help.
