MAHP to operate the Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium guideline review process

Michigan Association of Health Plans has announced that the association is now providing administrative management for the Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium (MQIC) guideline review process, which establishes and implements clinical practice guidelines with a focus on improvement for affecting positive health outcomes.

The Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium is a collaborative effort to develop and implement standard clinical guidelines and performance measures and the review committee includes physicians and personnel representing Michigan HMOs and Michigan medicine. To date, the committee has approved nine of 13 guidelines that were up for review in 2023.

“MAHP’s mission to promote and advocate for high quality, affordable, equitable and accessible health care for the people of Michigan which drives our decision to keep the MQIC guideline review process going,” said Dominick Pallone, executive director of MAHP. “MAHP recognizes the expertise and evidence-based knowledge that the guidelines represent and encourages the use of accepted standards of care to promote quality care and better health outcomes for Michiganders.”

The guidelines are available on the MAHP website. If you are interested in participating or would like to receive updates on the MQIC, you may sign up here.
