Isabella County Child Advocacy Center to receive $2,500 grant to expand
The Isabella County Child Advocacy Center (ICCAC) will receive a $2,500 grant from the Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) to expand child abuse prevention education throughout Isabella County schools.
“Childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences significantly increase the risk of chronic disease and mental illness later in life, creating long-term health disparities. This grant funding will support our Protect Yourself and Safer Smarter Teens programs, teaching children to recognize unsafe situations, set healthy boundaries, and identify trusted adults. We are thrilled with the support from our health plan partners, who recognize and appreciate the local community work being done here in Isabella County,” said Britnee Neitzke with ICCAC.
The Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) first learned about ICCAC’s valuable community programs from locally elected state leaders. Both State Representative Jerry Neyer and State Senator Roger Hauck. “Our nine health plan members are pleased to support and encourage the continued selfless work this community-based organization is taking to improve health outcomes,” said Dominick Pallone, MAHP’s executive director.
The Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) is making $2,500 available through its Tackling Health Care Disparities grant program. This program encourages community-based organizations to collaborate and implement local initiatives to improve health outcomes and advance health equity.
I am honored to connect an association from Lansing that is looking to recognize and help continue the valuable services local faith-based organizations like this are taking to address health care disparities in their communities,” said State Representative Jerry Neyer.
“Anytime I can draw the attention of statewide associations looking to highlight and support local community-based initiatives that are improving the health outcomes of the constituents I represent, everyone wins,” stated State Senator Roger Hauck.
